The Weekend

This was an occasion for Goring to “go to town” with businesses and residents welcoming and entertaining our visitors. The photograph above shows an example of the welcome displayed by all the shops and pubs.

A broad outline of the weekend is shown below:

	Saturday	Sunday
Morning	French Arrival 8:00 - 09:00 hrs Getting round the village (Cultural Treasure Hunt/Quiz, Open Gardens, Photographic & History Exhibition)	River Trip from Runnymeade to Windsor and visit to the Commonwealth Air Forces Memorial
Lunch	Picnic in Village Hall	Lunch on the Boat
Afternoon	Vin d’Honneur, Official Twinning Ceremony with music by the Goring & Streatley Band and speeches in Goring Village Hall	Church Service & Celebration Choral Music
Evening	Country Dancing in Benson Hall	Dinner en famille

The French coach Departure was on Monday morning from the Goring Village hall, where light refreshments had been provided to sustain our visitors for the return journey.

On arrival, both guests and hosts were supplied with a detailed pack covering all the events and containing amongst others:

The Shops and Businesses displayed decorations and welcoming banners in their windows. Some also displayed some “Artefact” as part of the Village Quiz.
